Bran Hambric: The Specter Key

In BRAN HAMBRIC: THE SPECTER KEY by KALEB NATION, while sorting through the same vault where he was found as a child, young mage-in-secret Bran Hambric discovers a deposit box left in his dead mother's name. Unable to open its enchanted lock, Bran is suddenly haunted by strange messages from spirits who call themselves the Specters. Bran discovers that the Specters have been enslaved by magic, and that there are those who will stop at nothing to take control of their dark powers.

Blaggh.

Um.

So, yeah. I have a bunch of homework and stuff to do, including starting this giant History project and choosing a book for my first book project of the year. But instead, I wanted to blog.

I need to get working on those blog posts that I promised on NEA, so... Yeah.

GAH.

I've been so busy today. My NEA post was really rushed, and I'm sorry about that.

I'm currently working on Language Arts homework. I really hate this, because we have to define about thirty literary terms. I hate this for two reasons:

1. As a writer, I already know all of this. And we go over it every single year. For some reason, people still cannot tell the difference between third and first person pov.

2. The book from which we have to copy the definitions is doing a crappy job explaining some of them. Its definition for 3rd person limited pov? "The narrator uses third-person pronouns such as 'he' and 'she.'" WHAT? Also, it is giving the illusion that characterization means creating memorable characters, which it does not. You can go through the process of characterization and still have really sucky characters.

Procrastination is Evil

Yeah, so it's getting pretty late, and I still haven't started on my NEA post. I was going to post it first thing in the morning tomorrow, but I don't think that is going to happen. Don't worry; I will still post. It'll just be later in the day.

I like these frequent, short posts. It's like tweeting, except not as limiting.

SECRETS....

Hey, so I'm currently working on this secret thing for NEA that even my fellow NEA girls know nothing about, and won't know anything about for weeks. I'm doing this instead of actually working on my NEA post for tomorrow, or doing my homework.

Whatever. This secret thing is not entirely a secret, but it sort of is.

Confuzzling Jess is confuzzling?

Yes.

Ploctober!

I've just decided that I'm going to create this new thing that I like to call PLOCTOBER. Basically, all throughout the month of October, I'm going to be plotting out my series, my NaNo novel, and anything else that I think of.

I'm not sure if I'll be documenting this on my blog, but I just felt like telling you all. Also, this means that I can't back out of it.

I somehow lost the map that I made for my series, which was really important and makes me very sad. But I do have a much larger version of it, which is what I'm going to use to make a bunch of smaller maps from.

That is all. Yay for Ploctober!

New Format? Kind of.

My last couple of posts have been very spur-of-the-moment and choppy, as is this one. I think that this may become my new format for my posts. I mean, I'm not going to give up my long and rambly* past, but I really like these quick writing things.

One of the reasons for this temporary new format is because I want to take some time off to write really good and long posts. I want to have a stock of them so that whenever I want to update but don't have anything interesting to say, I can just publish one of them. It takes a while to write posts, and as I want to have at least ten finished before I start up again, these type of posts will happen a lot.

Anyway, the main point of this post is just to show everyone Winona's video which made me re-discover my love for Tom Milsom's song "Toy (Ode to an Imaginary Pachyderm)." Check it out:

Also, if you could, like, leave her some love, that would be nice. Like, comment on the video or something? I don't know.

*I do not believe that is a word, but I'd like to think that it is one.

Edit: Writing your 60th post unintentionally FTW.

Jess apparently did stuff this summer

Well, today's the last day of summer. I start school tomorrow, and I am so excited. And nervous. But mostly excited.

I miss all of the fun things.

I've been working a little bit on my NEA post for tomorrow. Family visited today.

But y'know what I missed yesterday?

FREAKING STICKAID.

sdj;flasofiegbeiougfadjsof ;jrqeoigh

Gahhhhhhh. Online epicness for 24 hours, and I missed it. Not because I didn't know about it. No. I was reading all of your tweets all day about it. I missed it because I didn't have my computer, and my dad's computer is wayyyy too slow for that. But because I was at my dad's and not my mom's, I probably wouldn't have been able to watch very much of it even if I did have my computer.

My dad has this problem with me being on the Internet. Sigh.

Do any of you remember when the HPA did this charity livestream show thingy, when they raised money for Haiti? And, like, some of the Harry Potter cast was there, and a bunch of really awesome wrockers performed?

Yeah. I missed that too.

I miss every single fun thing that happens on the Internet when it goes on for a long time. Except for the livestream the night before the HPA won the $250,000. I was there for that. I was surprised, considering that I miss everything.

Just a rant.

Fo' siriusness,* if you aren't following NEA yet, you should get on that. I update there every Monday, which might be way more often than I update here for a while. Also, all of the girls that I collab with are really awesome and nerdy. So yeah.
