Writing Scraps

Sometimes, I start writing a scene, but then I get distracted and never finish it. In the past, these scene beginnings would never get saved, and would just be lost forever. I've found that a lot of these can be really good, and it really is a waste that I just let them disappear.

So I've created a folder in My Documents, entitled, "Scraps." Inside it, there are three more folders, Awesome, Crap, and Meh. Now, whenever I start writing something that isn't even close to being a full scene, I'm going to quickly evaluate it and save it in one of these folders.

If you're a writer, and face the same problem, I suggest doing the same thing.

(Just a writing update. Nothing really went on today except for that.)

On Writing and why I haven't since November

Writing is my greatest hobby, and I love it so much. So why have I not properly written anything since November?

I realize that NaNoWriMo kind of convinces you not to write for a week, but after that, you feel the need to start again. I haven't. I guess that I've been too busy. It's not like I haven't written ANYTHING. I mean, I obviously have written blog posts - both here and on Nerdily Ever After. Also, the frequent essays and various other projects for school. But I haven't worked on a book or anything since November.

I intend to change this soon.

I'd love to rewrite my NaNo novel. As with last year, you can really tell when I started giving up. Everything before that time is pretty brilliant, even though I thought it was crap as I was writing it. The whole plot needs to be revamped though. I wish that I could just give up on the story altogether, but I love the characters so much that I can't just abandon them.

I'll have to wait and see. My goal is to write a book that is just supposed to be read on its own. No intense planning or research, no chance of sequels or prequels. Just a solitary book. That'll be a huge challenge, but I'd love to be able to do it.

And look at that! I'm already starting on my plans to blog more frequently.

People can change, People can change

...And so can blogs, apparently.

Hey there everybody! First post of 2011. Exciting.

So, randomly, tonight, I decided to re-design this blog. The changes aren't huge - same color scheme and header picture. But I've changed things up to make them look more organized. Also, music. There is music now.

If you read this post, I'd love to hear your opinion in the comments. Namely on the music. Annoying that it starts right away? Should I make it so that you have to play it yourself? Or, should I just have the one that automatically comes up be Tom Milsom's "Autumnsong." Because, I mean, that song is brilliant and could never be distracting ever.

I hope to get back to blogging like I used to. I was going to say regular blogging, but I've never blogged regularly, if you discount August, which I do. BEDA does not count.* I want to do away with these really short posts, and start being all rambly again.

Also, I think it would be cool if I could actually start making videos on my channel. FiveTeenVloggers is going good so far. It's fun to be part of a collab when the pressure of coming up with a theme is not on you. It's really getting me back into making videos.

This weekend, I'm getting organized. One, I'm cleaning my room. (Remember on December 18 when I said that I was going to clean my room? Yeah, didn't happen.) But this time, I'm going to be extremely motivated. Because my mom is bribing me with this ukulele that I really want. If I finish cleaning this weekend, she'll pay for it for me. If I don't, I'm not getting it at all, because I'm pretty sure the deadline to buy it is sometime this week.

In addition to cleaning my room, I'll be getting a free period in school again soon, which means I'll have less time required to do homework at night. Also, my religious education classes are ending in February**, which means that I'll have about 2.5 more hours of free time on Mondays. Which means better NEA posts, and better posts on here, and possibly vlogs on my channel.

2011 is hopefully going to change my life for the positive. And it all begins... now.

*By the way, no BEDA in April for me. Sorry everybody. But I'll definitely do it in August again. April becomes far too busy with Script Frenzy and school stuff.
**Well, okay. So I'm getting confirmed on February 24. They want us to continue going to classes until, like, May, or something. But I don't even believe in anything that they're teaching us, so there is NO WAY that I'm continuing past Confirmation. I wouldn't even be getting confirmed if my mom wasn't forcing me.
