On Writing and why I haven't since November

Writing is my greatest hobby, and I love it so much. So why have I not properly written anything since November?

I realize that NaNoWriMo kind of convinces you not to write for a week, but after that, you feel the need to start again. I haven't. I guess that I've been too busy. It's not like I haven't written ANYTHING. I mean, I obviously have written blog posts - both here and on Nerdily Ever After. Also, the frequent essays and various other projects for school. But I haven't worked on a book or anything since November.

I intend to change this soon.

I'd love to rewrite my NaNo novel. As with last year, you can really tell when I started giving up. Everything before that time is pretty brilliant, even though I thought it was crap as I was writing it. The whole plot needs to be revamped though. I wish that I could just give up on the story altogether, but I love the characters so much that I can't just abandon them.

I'll have to wait and see. My goal is to write a book that is just supposed to be read on its own. No intense planning or research, no chance of sequels or prequels. Just a solitary book. That'll be a huge challenge, but I'd love to be able to do it.

And look at that! I'm already starting on my plans to blog more frequently.

  1. I know how you feel. I also haven't written anything since NaNo. Except this one shot I wrote as a challenge, but that is written so horribly that it shouldn't even be considered a piece of writing.

So did you end up finishing your novel for NaNo? What was it about?

I wrote 15,000 words but then I had to stop because I had exams coming up and I needed to study. Unfortunately, it will be the same this year D:

  2. Genius cannot be rushed! Just give yourself enough time with the writing. :-)
